RUMOR HAS IT:

(The CAVS YB Raw Discussion Bowl)

***BYE BYE, BABY...HELLO SUNSHINE!***

Yeah. It's kinda crazy, really. Just when CAVS 14U loses yet another player, another player (quite a substantial one, at that) secures a spot on the roster.

Yep.

Business as usual.

And that's all we have to say about that.

***THE REAL CHAMPIONSHIP***

Um...we never talked about what happened with CAVS 14U at the SGV Tourney. Since they didn't come home with the trophy, the thought was chucked to the wind...or was it?

Dude, EVERYBODY watching knew the REAL Championship game was between CAVS 14U and West Coast Select. We're talking 14U Elite Division, here. What a game! WCS had CAVS 14U down by 20 points at one time. Next thing you know, the CAVS Boys pulled it all the way to a 1-point deficit, 56-55 (or something like that) but lost it in the end because of mistakes.

That is the short version, but you just had to BE there. It was like...NBA excitement and EVERYBODY was watching!

Rumor has it that West Coast went on to play the Arizona Crusaders for the Championship. The Crusaders took it all, 51-42, but we heard the game was...um...deflated....as in...VOID of excitement.

Oh well. Another time. Another place.

Game on.

***HOMECOMING: IT'S WHERE THE HEART IS***

You read right. No CAVS Homecoming 2013 this year at Chatsworth--where it has been for like, ever.

However...

Since life is what you make it...

...and home is where the heart is...

...and all that rest of that good ole' cliche stuff--

Homecoming will be right at home in San Fernando=home of the best darned Flea Market in the area!

Enjoy some games. Get in the Shootout Contest. Get a stamp. Walk over to the Flea Market. Grab some bargains. You can't do that in Chatsworth. Return back to Homecoming for more games and fun. Sounds like a weekend!

Will there be an Alumni/Celebrity Basketball game this year?

Hmmm....

Time will tell.

****Stay tuned...we WILL be discussing all of the subjects of the season you've been merely just THINKING about.

*********************************************

****Don't forget!! If you'd like to contact us and be a part of the CAVS, our Tryouts are every Monday during our regular practice sessions. Gone are the days of our once a year, annual tryouts. This is an all-new SEASON 25, baby!!!

Just come and bring it---no pressure. Simply work out with us and we'll go from there!!!

****Please contact us right away HERE.

Oh...and please give us some time to get back with you! We will!

RENO ROUNDUP: CAVS 8U Finish as 2nd Place Champions, CAVS 9U Finish 3rd in Jam On It Memorial Day Tourney

We've told you before that great things come in small packages--yes?

CAVS 8U fought their way to the championship game in the Jam On It Memorial Day Tourney, May 25th-28th, 2012 and finished as 2nd Place Champions!! Go CAVS 8U!!

In the meantime, CAVS 9U went undefeated on Saturday and Sunday, until the final rounds, where they lost one game.
This---just like it did to CAVS 13U---sent them flying down into the 3rd place bracket. So, yes…CAVS 9U took home the 3rd Place Title.

Nevertheless, we are proud of our small-but-mighty tykes, who will be ballin’ out this coming weekend at the SOLD-OUT CAVS Summer Classic Tourney 2012!

GO CAVS 8U and 9U!!!

And....

Shouts out to CAVS 11U who didn’t go undefeated, but balled out in the end!!

CAVS 13U Finish 3rd at Reno Memorial Day Jam On It Tourney

3rd? Yep…you read right. CAVS 13U---the mighty squad that has won this tourney multiple years lost ONE game out of four & wound up finishing 3rd for 2012.
Don’t ask. I am about to tell you.

How’s this for irony? CAVS 13U battled BOTH the 13U and the 14U All-City West teams in a shootout over Mother’s Day Weekend and defeated them both.

All-City West returned the favor this past Memorial Day weekend and beat CAVS 13U by two points. TWO POINTS, darnit! CAVS 13U was then catapulted into the 3rd place bracket, while All-City West went on to win the Championship vs. the Elite Shooting Stars in the Reno AAU Jam-On-It Tourney.

U gotta be kiddin’ me.

Seriously? I have to be honest. All-City West hustled ALL weekend long like they were hungry. I can’t lie. They deserved the championship. There are those who disagree (simply because they know what CAVS 13U can really do) but it is what it is.  I can't take away what really went down. CAVS 13U could have taken it all, but PLAIN AND SIMPLE, they didn’t hustle as hard in the All-City West game as they should have. Some say that CAVS 13U would have responded differently if their main coach, Coach D was there (he was coaching our 8U squad). While it is true that the head coach brings the energy and inspiration out of CAVS 13U (and every other player) like no other, the will to win is the will to win.

Either you are gonna BRING YOUR "A" game, or you are not---no matter WHO is there or not there!

So....

First things first.

CAVS 13U began on Saturday with a victory against the Enterprise Junior Hornets, 75-34.
You already know that on Sunday, CAVS 13U met up with All-City West (and even maintained a lead, but lost it through mistakes) and lost 56-58.
With no other choice but to play for 3rd Place (doggonnit!!!) CAVS 13U faced off with the Grizzlies, at 9:20pm that night, at the Grand Sierra Hotel (yeah...I guess that late game was the premiere punishment for losing).
You want to know something, though?
CAVS 13U played the BEST they'd played ALL WEEKEND at this game.  Coach D was back in effect and the boys were hyped and BALLIN' OUT!!! It turned out to be quite fun to watch. Despite the Grizzlies not exactly being the easiest team to beat, the CAVS boys landed the victory, 56-42.

Luckily, Monday's originally-scheduled 4:00pm game was rescheduled to 10:40am and CAVS 13U battled the Yellow Jackets (also not a pushover team) garnering the 3rd Place Title, 65-61.
Meh.

It sickens us, really. CAVS 13U is a LOT better than what they played, actually. It feels strange, but it is an eye-opener. In this life, you MUST give everything competitive 100%, or what is the point in doing it? GO HARD OR GO HOME!!!!  Shouts out and much love to All-City West for taking home the championship, because they truly deserved it. We don't hate; we congratulate....when true credit is due.

However....(and you KNOW there had to be a "however") this coming weekend, June 2nd-3rd, 2012, at our very own SOLD-OUT CAVS Summer Classic Tourney, the CAVS 13U boyz and All-City West will most definitely face off once again.

THAT, my friends, is going to be the game of the century.

You can take that and deposit it.
