OH YEAH. 8U won, too, but we’ll discuss that when the official post has been sent in.
For now…the mighty 13U CAVS division brought home the championship this past weekend, November 25th-26th at the Impact Thanksgiving Tourney in Anaheim, CA. It’s been a long time coming with players out for football and players subbed in, but this weekend, DA BOYZ were all back together again at the American Sports Center. Maybe the EXACT USUAL CAVS rhythm has not yet fully kicked into gear (cause you KNOW that takes a minute once the season starts) but it’s certainly warming up.
Here we go.
The weekend launched with an 8am game on Saturday against the 13U AVAC Hoyas.
8am?
Dude….seriously? Do you SEE anyone ELSE in the gym in the picture above? Can you say “torture” boys and girls? Despite all the half-dead, frozen parents on the sidelines (the gym was like ICE since we were the first ones there) in their zombie-like comas (coffee cups in hand) the boys were surprisingly alert and knocked it out, defeating the Hoyas, 49-26.
The win seamlessly faded into the next game, which tipped off at 9:10am against the 13U Impact Pasadena team. CAVS 13U won 48-31.
On Sunday morning, at 11:20am (thank GOD someone had mercy enough not to punish us at 8am again!) CAVS 13U collected the win vs. the Southeast Warriors, 57-22, placing them into the Semi-Final game against the Cagers. We’ll remind you that The Cagers is a team that carries a former CAVS player who snags a mean 3-point shot almost every time he launches the ball. Nope. You never could leave this guy open or he’d make you look pretty bad.
Didn’t help, though…..CAVS 13U handsomely slammed the Cagers, 70-35, placing them into the Championship Game.
At 4:40pm, CAVS 13U once again had to meet center court with the AVAC Hoyas and brought home the championship, 56-24.
Nevertheless….GO CAVS 13U!!!! It was nice to see the entire crew reunite and fumble and bumble their way up and down each court---especially since all of them have not practiced together, in full, since pre-football season. Not to worry. There’s work to be done, but the original talent has never departed!!

Next stop….the CAVS Classic Tourney December 3rd & 4th, 2011!!! Be there!!! GAME ON!!!
