****YOOOOOOO!!! YOU NEED TO KEEP IT LOCKED NOW!!! The mighty CAVS divisions are heading to Reno, Nevada this coming Memorial Day weekend, May 28th-28th, 2012 for the Jam On It National "All Under One Roof" Tourney, which now is hosting 950 teams!!! Sick, right?

We wish the best of luck to all of our CAVS divisions!!! Let's bring home multiple championships this year, as in previous years!!! GAME ON!!!

****CONGRATS to CAVS 13U who balled out and won all games of their Saturday Shootout during Mother's Day Weekend (May 12th, 2012) against both All-City West's 13U and 14U teams!! GO CAVS 13U!!!

GO CAVS 13U and 16U (yes...we said 16U--from our CAVS High School division!!!) who brought home their championships May 5th-6th, 2012 at the Player's Edge facilities, for the EYB/Jr. Hoops I.E. Explosion Tourney!!!

******GO CAVS 9U!!!! Betcha you didn't know that CAVS 9U went to Oakland, Cali and brought home the championship April 14th - 15th, 2012 at the Oakland Rebels Finest Easter Basketball Tourney. We are proud of our young ballers!! See the photo on our Facebook site HERE.

******Congrats to the high-ranking, talented 13U ballers for bringing home the championship April 5th-7th, in Las Vegas, at the Las Vegas Bigfoot Hoops Easter Showdown.

The weekend before that, both CAVS 10/11U and CAVS 13U brought home the Championship at the CAVS/Impact Basketball Spring Spectacular Tourney, March 31st-April 1st, 2012 at the all new Garden Grove facilities! CAVS 9U brought home the 2nd Place Championship, as well....all under one roof, baby. GO CAVS!!! Work it!!!

****RUMOR HAS IT: THE CAVS RUMOR MILL

****YO! IT WENT DOWN WITHOUT EM': We are talking about the Oakland Soldiers Battle of The Bay Tourney, which consistently draws heavy ballers from all over to the Dream Courts gym facilities in Hayward, CA.

Last year, the mighty CAVS Ballers beat out the Oakland Soldiers in the Semi-Finals and skated in with a 2nd Place Championship after Houston Elite nabbed 1st place.

THIS year, May 18th-20th, 2012, the mighty CAVS were nowhere in the tourney. HOW WEIRD WAS THAT?

Very.

This year, the West Coast Rebels organization walked away with four championships across divisions.

Even the Oakland Soldiers couldn't believe it.

****WINTER CAVS CLASSIC - BRANCHING OUT? Yep. Rumor has it that the CAVS Winter Classic this year may be taking things "all under one roof". Heck...bout time! You know what THAT means, right? Bigger, better than ever before. No more running gyms all over the San Fernando Valley like chickens with no heads. More teams. A huge venue. Less headaches. Maybe Coach D can rent a Segway, put on a fly, but brightly-colored suit and be Matt Williams for a weekend (those who attend Reno's National Jam On It Tourney knows that every year without fail, Matt Williams rides a Segway wearing some kind of Zoot suit or something)!!

Yeah, baby. We will keep you posted on this one!

****HOME ON THE RANGE? Word is, the mighty CAVS may not be shipping out of the current practice spot at Montclair Prep just yet. Remember we told you practices would be there only until June? Well...it looks like the CAVS practices will remain at Montclair indefinitely. Chatsworth, with all of its scheduling is NOT HAPPENING. Too many other things scheduled there during the week.

Whatever.

Montclair Prep it is...until the CAVS finally get their own facility. Hmmm.....

****STILL COMIN': Though we are in the height of our mid-season, new kids are still joining up with the CAVS. Practices lately have been pretty crowded--especially when the CAVS High School boys show up to work things out.

****A DIFFERENT AGENDA: Lots of tourneys originally on the CAVS Travel Season calendar WILL NOT BE GOING DOWN this year. Is that a bad thing? Nope! In fact, word is...all new tourneys will be scheduled to replace the old.

That can NEVER be a bad thing.

Look forward to some very COOL, unexpected surprises.

****THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UNDECIDED: Yep. Folks are STILL talkin'. Complainin'. Wonderin'. Hopin'? There is still confusion. We're just going straight to the headliner: Other players merging in to play with the usual CAVS boys...and CAVS boys merging in to play with the other boys are causing a ripple.

Really don't think folks are feeling this, but here's the reason why these things go down sometimes:

****HUGE WEST COAST/VEGAS MERGER ON THE HORIZON? We've told you about this; yes? This is supposed to go down in a MAJOR way. Somehow. The "somehow" has not been figured out yet, much less worked out. More tournaments. More events. More players. A larger presence in two states. Will it? Won't it? THOSE are the right questions. Right now, nobody has the right answers, though. We do know this subject causes a very sore spot for many. Should this really be that big of a problem? Probably not.

All's fair in love and basketball...right?

Yeah...we're going to have to keep you posted on this one.

****STILL GOING STRONG: CAVS Leadership is handling things. They just welcomed a NEW member, in fact.

These are your lawmakers.....your behind-the scenes "deciders" of all things CAVS Youth Basketball. Consistent (and rather lengthy) meetings have been the key....and word is.....things are moving forward rather nicely. Way to GO, CAVS Leadership!!

****INTENSE CAVS PRACTICES are still being held every Monday and Wednesday at Montclair Prep High School (8071 Sepulveda Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91402) 6:00pm-7:30pm (6U-10U) (give or take) and 7:15pm-9:15pm (11U-14U). MONTCLAIR PREP will remain our practice location indefinitely (as of the latest news).

WHAT HAPPENED IN VEGAS AIN’T STAYIN’ IN VEGAS

Oh you thought I forgot, huh? You THOUGHT this was over just because it's LATE? Not hardly!! I TOLD you it was coming, so strap yourself in for this one. Better late than never.

Wait….I need a WOOOSAH moment, first.

Wait for it….

Wait for it…

Okay---I’m good.

So, you know the mighty CAVS divisions skipped off to Vegas for the Vegas Elite Invitational, April 28^th-29^th, 2012.

Let’s get this straight right now. NO ONE likes to lose…however; it is all in the game. The best players in the NBA lose. We are no different sometimes. As my favorite coach of the #1 Team in the Country said it best:

"It's not always about winning. It's about getting better."

So here it is: NONE of our divisions won in this Vegas Elite tournament….and we are not mad at anyone else for it! Things went down how they went down. Heck, we aren’t the ONLY youth basketball organization to have that happen---you know what I’m saying?

PUH-LEEEZE!!!

However, we are not happy with the ARRANGEMENT of events that LED to some of the losing.

It all began great for most of our divisions (so we hear). For CAVS 13U, the tourney started OFF in the paint. The very FIRST game for CAVS 13U was against Team Bibby.

Btw…did I mention Team Bibby actually WON the championship? Yeah. I am getting to that.

So, CAVS 13U won the first game vs. Team Bibby by four points. It would have been more (because the initial lead was more) but turnovers and mistakes brought it to just a +4. I wouldn’t say this was a well-played weekend for CAVS 13U because…NO, honey…it wasn’t! The very NEXT game was vs. Vegas Elite.

So you SEE where this is going, right? Guess who Team Bibby and Vegas Elite both got to play for their initial games? JD Select, no doubt. Now, I am not taking anything away from JD Select--it's all love---but all I have to say is…folks KNEW what they were doing when this went down.

The CAVS 13U vs. Vegas Elite game was just CHAOS. Did I say it was just chaos? Our players simply breathed in and fouls were called on them…until two of our main players (that never really foul out) fouled completely OUT. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Vegas players actually HAD 8-10 documented fouls on the books, yet were still on the floor.

Next time, I will call a couple of optical companies so they can donate product, because obviously, a few folks needed glasses.

I’m just sayin’.

Throughout all that mud-muck and all that drama, CAVS 13U was still ahead. However, LAST-MINUTE turnovers and mistakes cost CAVS 13U the game by 5 points. BOOOOOO!!!

Yeah, I know. That part was on us. Hey—it was what it was! Yet, we thought we still had a shot at the championship the next day. You would think so, right?

Wrong.

SO wrong.

CAVS 13U played JD Select on Sunday, won by 15, but it meant nothing, because JD Select didn’t win either game against Team Bibby or Vegas Elite.

Um....yeah.

The score was about as useless as a pork sandwich at a Vegan picnic. Bottom line?

CAVS 13U was ousted by ONE MEASLEY POINT.

Luck?

Arrangement?

Who knows?

All we know, is…there were a LOT of folks ecstatic that CAVS 13U was out, because if they were not…..who KNOWS what would have happened?

Well, actually, I think everyone knows what could have been a very real possibility.

WHATEVER, DUDE!!!

It happens, right? Can’t cry over spilled (and very spoiled) milk. Congrats to Team Bibby, who DID win the championship in our absence (Seriously--I am not being funny. I LIKE Team Bibby). We can only look forward to the next round-up…and there will be some very different round-ups coming up….

…and quite a few surprises!

All we can say now is: GAME ON!!!!

P.S. Just not in Vegas...for now.

WHAT?!!! CAVS 13U Finish As 2nd Place Champions in Best-Of-The-West Tourney

Hey---don’t even ASK ME. I wasn’t there. Doesn’t change the fact that the mighty CAVS 13U battled it OUT this past weekend, April 21^st-22^nd, 2012, only to finish as 2^nd Place Champions in the All City West Best-In-The-West Tourney in Los Angeles, CA.

2^nd?

Second?

Segundo?

Some late basketball legend is turning over in his/her grave right now over this. Look, I’m not saying it like it couldn’t happen. Never that! It’s not even like that. However…turnovers and mistakes in excess of 50-75 TIMES (OMG!!!) during the entire weekend warrant the following expression:

WTH?

Were we being “punked”?

There are no photos this time, folks, sorry. Well, not really, unless you count the cell-phone (supposed SmartPhone) enabled grain/blur-infested photo below. I mean, really. WHO takes a photo with NOBODY looking at the camera? That is simply amazing. On top of the bad photo, the boys look like they’ve just endured WAR, don’t they? Poor boys….but all’s fair in ball and war!

From what I hear, the weekend begun on Saturday with the first game against Inland Force, only to be followed up with a game against the Playmakers on Sunday. As for the other teams, I cannot tell you who they were at this time. BTW…if any of this information is wrong or misleading, please act like you didn’t hear it from me.

Who will you believe…me or your lying eyes?

So yes…CAVS 13U battled it out all the way to the Championship Game. Who with? Oh, YOU KNOW who with! Why, it was none other than our in-house favorites...California Heat. I know, right? Hey—you know we love the Heat. They do their thing...but seriously...how many doggoned times will this SAME rivalry go down?

Anyway…CAVS 13U just handed California Heat (they worked for it, but for OUR standards, things were handed over) the championship on a shiny gold platter complete with whipped cream and strawberries on top. Can you say “over 75 turnovers in ONE WEEKEND”, boys and girls? We know. There had to be something in the water. Or better yet, CAVS 13U had grease on their fingers. That’s it. It MUST be because someone fed them some chicken before the games. Jeez. Whatever explains it...

…and “it” gets worse.

California Heat not only snagged first place, but THEY WON BY TEN POINTS!! The horror!!

I don’t know what to say on this one, since I wasn’t there to witness the expulsion. OMG. All I can say right about now is a giant, Flavor-Flav-sounding “WOWWWWW!”

So, yeah! CAVS 13U finished as 2^nd Place Champions. GO CAVS 13U!!

Next stop…the Vegas Elite Invitational Tourney, April 28^th-29^th, 2012.

GAME ON!!!

ALL THE LATEST CAVS WINNINGS - YOU KNOW!!!!

Yep. You know we normally do the separate posts for CAVS 13U and the other divisions, but right now, we're gonna give it to you ALL AT ONCE.

This is because you probably don't care to hear game-for-game details that happened weeks ago. We're sorry. We usually give it to you faster than that. However, things got a little busy. It's okay. For that reason alone, we are going to spare you the heartache (and eye ache).

Ready? Let's go.

Here is all you've missed since April 2012 rang in:

CAVS 8/9U have been BALLIN' OUT like nobody's business! These small-but-mighty ballers took matters to the Oakland Bay Area and brought home the championship in the Dominators Young Stars Invitational Tourney, March 31st - April 1st, 2012. YEAH, BABY!!! Go CAVS 8/9U!!!

During the same weekend.....

CAVS 13U, currently ranked #1 of all 13U Southern CA Basketball Teams and #2 in the country (next to Cali Style's #1) brought home the championship in the CAVS/Impact Basketball Spring Spectacular Tourney in Garden Grove, CA, March 31st-April 1st, 2012. Woot!

The talented ballers followed that up with a championship win at the Bigfoot Hoops Las Vegas Easter Showdown, April 5th-7th, 2012.

By the way....

The Bigfoot Hoops Las Vegas Easter Showdown, April 5th-7th, 2012 was the CAVS 13U squad's 6th, consecutive championship win...and counting!! GO CAVS 13U!!!

CAVS 10/11U also brought home the championship at the CAVS/Impact Basketball Spring Spectacular Tourney in Garden Grove, CA, March 31st-April 1st, 2012, while CAVS 9U finished as 2nd Place Champions!! GO CAVS BALLERS!!! Way to represent!!!

Last, but certainly not least (gosh, don't you get tired of hearing people say that phrase???) CAVS 9U brought home the championship in the Oakland Rebels Finest Basketball Tourney, April 14th-15th, 2012. GO CAVS 9U!!!

CAVS 10/11U Win the CAVS/Impact Spring Spectacular Tourney

The mighty CAVS divisions banded together to ball out in the CAVS/Impact Basketball Spring Spectacular Tourney, March 31^st-April 1^st, 2012 at the new facilities in Garden Grove, CA and ended up bringing home the championship!!
