The CAVS Annual Summer Classic - BIG Success: CAVS 10U and 12U Sweep Championships, June 4th-5th, 2011

How we absolutely LOVE our CAVS Annual Summer Classic Tournament, as ages 8U all the way to 17U get to come out and compete in gyms all over the San Fernando Valley!!!  We'd like to thank all of the schools who provided our gym locations:

Now....you've heard of the saying, “So much to do…so little time?” right? Well that most definitely applied to this past weekend, as teams of all ages flooded in and out of basketball games from 8:00am all the way until final game times of 9:30pm.  It was hard work and intense at times, but despite a few tiffs and rattles among parents, refs and coaches (this is inevitable, you know) all went down smoothly. 

Okay. A word to the wise to parents and coaches alike....when the kids' games don't go as you've planned, it might not be a good idea to overturn chairs, slam water fountains, or launch a loud, mass group-complaint-session-circle on already-overworked CAVS gym volunteers. Your results just MAY be a bit unsatisfactory! Don’t trip. Overall....the weekend was mad fun!

Best of all, our very own CAVS 10U and 12U brought home the championship trophies! Hope everybody liked our trophies. There were a few complaints about them (from teams who barely won their games - go figure) but I actually thought they were quite cool and different.

Oh, whatever. You can't please them all. You know what I say, right? Don't worry...this is rated "E" for everyone. JUST BE HAPPY YOU WON SOMETHING! Some folks can be so ungrateful...but we will keep it moving.

Anyhoo…..CAVS 12U defeated CA Heat 57-38  for the Elite Championship and CAVS 10U defeated Inland Force for the Gold Championship, 31-29. GO CAVS!!! CAVS 12U has been on a championship winning streak all season!!! Here there are (sorry about the mobile photo - many of us were working the gyms):

Okay. We know you are waiting for the tournament results. Heck, so are we, for that matter.  Please be patient! It takes time to sort out mass teams and YES, we DID have practice last night, right after the loaded weekend. Rest assured, however, we are hard at work on it all and we will post all results/championship winners as soon as they all have been tabulated for each division. 

******On behalf of the entire CAVS Youth Basketball organization, we would like to thank each and every parent, coach, scorekeeper, volunteer, player, child and innocent bystander for making this year’s 2011 CAVS Summer Classic a raving success!!! Thank you!!! 

***EXTRA big shots out to all volunteers who ran the CAVS gym locations solo, or with minimal help/conditions like the true soldiers that they are!!! Some were running the score table (clock) AND the door at the same time for 8+ hours...others ran entire gyms solo for 12 hours!! Some had no admissions table and had to hold their cash box just about in their laps. Troopers!!! Here's to you:

****As for those that KNEW they were supposed to volunteer to help and just didn't, KNOWING we needed you? Ooh wee. This is especially for you:
